Leveling the Window

2 comments:

  1. Step 1:
Once building the wall u four coarses we placed the window in and made sure that it sat on a level base. This required adding extra mortar under areas of the frame.

    Step 2:
Once the frame was on a level base we made sure that it was sitting straight on the vertical plain. To ensure that the window did not move we hammered 2 stakes into the ground in line with the edge of the window frame and tacked two pieces of wood to the inside of the frame.
    Step 3
Make sure that everything is still level as the windows position will determine the walls level. (if the window is leaning forward we are more then likely to build the wall to the edge of the frame before we realise the lean).

  2. Tacking the flashing onto the top of the window frame. the top flashing is carried past the edge of the frame and into the mortar. it is important to bend the rear of the flashing upwards to direct the water out of the building.
