Desire: To construct a ascetically pleasing, environmentally sustainable exterior wall that can last the elements. TASK:Construct a 1:2 model incorporating a wall + window + roof/ eave using actual material elements. After construction test integrity with a hose, simulated rainfall for 5 minute period. Record the entire process. • Research • Sketches • Construction • Testing
A top plate was bolted into the wall similar to brick veneer wall. For the purpose of this exercise we place prefabricated eaves with a 400 over hang onto the top plate. Supported by two struts and 4 nails skewed though each Purlin into the top plate.
ReplyDeleteTwo pieces of corrugated Colour bond steel sheeting were screwed to the rafters overlaying on groove to prevent the capillary action.
ReplyDeleteTwo bolt rods for brick veneer construction can be seen leaning against the wall. On a large scale wall these are the kind of rods that would bolt the top plate to the wall.
