Desire: To construct a ascetically pleasing, environmentally sustainable exterior wall that can last the elements. TASK:Construct a 1:2 model incorporating a wall + window + roof/ eave using actual material elements. After construction test integrity with a hose, simulated rainfall for 5 minute period. Record the entire process. • Research • Sketches • Construction • Testing
This wall is stacked like a wood pile for a fire and without any fill in between the wood it will offer no fire protection.
ReplyDeleteThis stacked wall provides minimal if any protection from the elements. It's strong aesthetic appeal is both costly to the pocket and the environment unless mill off cuts or damaged trees are used for the cordwood wall construction instead of cutting down trees for this purpose. This limits cordwall wall construction to smaller buildings. Alot of wood required to construct these walls but a limited amount would be available.
